QGifer, a free tool for Windows-powered machine, will help you come up with GIF animations. Just load a video file into the application, select the part of the video you want to turn into a GIF, and the application will quickly do as instructed. In little time and with a minimal amount of effort you will have a cool animation that you can share with the world.

The QGifer installer weighs in at 14MB. Download this file, run it, and you will be presented with a setup wizard that will have you pick one of several supported languages, choose the installation folder, and select if you want a QGifer shortcut on the desktop.

The video you loaded into the application is presented in the large panel to the right on the application’s interface. To the left there’s a Toolbox panel that features several sections: Preview properties, Margins, Filters, Output properties. And at the top there’s a traditional File Menu and a toolbar with nice big buttons for various functions QGifer can perform.

What I liked most from a functionality point of view is that QGifer is incredibly easy to use. I had no problems selecting a part of a video and turning it into a GIF animation. And the fact that the developer posted a YouTube video that shows how to use QGifer definitely came in handy.
I also liked that QGifer comes with a nice selection of features: color palette editor, graphics insertion, cropping, filtering, looping, graphics insertion, and more. Seeing that QGifer is freeware, you have all the time in the world to uncover all the features it has to offer.

There’s much to like about QGifer: it does its job efficiently, it has multiple nice features to offer, it is incredibly easy to use, and it is free.

Pros

Little of your time will be spent on installing QGifer. The same goes for figuring out the interface; QGifer comes with a user friendly, intuitive UI. You can extract part of a video and convert it into a GIF animation. QGifer is free software.

Cons

None that I could think of.
